I personally think that you got your money's worth. My boyfriend and I just bought a new TV only a couple of months ago and of course we are hoping that will last us at least 10 years...and the TV that we had before in the family room *we just moved it to the bedroom* is almost 5 years old and it still works perfect. We will use those tvs until they completely die on us :-)
