digital is all or nothing so if your signal drops you lose it all I have had similar experiences with other boxes. some are better at weak signals than others. with a indoor antenna you are going to get minimal reception from stations that are not in your area. so I would recommend an outdoor antenna see the post on needing a small antenna this one has worked quite well for my customers and is cheap so you get antenna rotator and pre amp in one.
