I would have guessed that your Dish receiver was bad. Good call by Sylvania's tech support. Most new electronics have about a failure rate of 1 in 6 (per
Consumer service plans: Worth the cost? (Page 1 of 3)), so it pays to have your original receipt and packaging material handy for during the warranty period.
