The last DVD of a TV show I bought was season one of The Closer (well, technically I asked for it as a present). I discovered that show during the third season, and enjoyed it, but I couldn't figure out some of the background info and they never seemed to rerun any season one episodes.
The only other one I ever purchased was Eureka season one, for the same reason. I discovered that one during a season 2 marathon, but there was some background info I really couldn't figure out by the context. And yes I did watch the extras on this one. (And now the show's been on hiatus so long I'm going to have to watch them again to figure who's who! Fortunately, there is a marathon on again).
