They also fired Denny Miller. When they reverted back to 60 minutes, they only wanted one scout, so either Bob or Denny had to go. While Denny was more popular in the US, Bob was huge overseas, especially in Germany, Mexico, and Japan. They kept Bob and fired Denny.
The DVD quality was decent, but just an FYI, it's not 100% complete. It's darn close, but Shout did their best. I actually have a few eps that have smoother transitions and such. Universal is a real pain as far as helping to get anything put on DVD.
