Be careful using the coupon on Amazon.com
I was looking for a converter box on Amazon.com and found the one I wanted. When I went to checkout, I discovered entering the coupon number did not change the order total. I left the checkout screen and eventually found a screen showing where I could enter the converter coupon number. Once I did that, I got an email saying my coupon had been validated and went back to the order screen to click on "apply coupon". There was still no change in the total due. At that point, I saw a link showing the products that were eligible for the coupon and realized the device I wanted wasn't listed. I cleared the shopping cart and tried ordering from a different site. That new site indicated the coupon was not valid, so I called Amazon support to find out if they had locked the coupon. The support person assured me they don't lock coupon numbers, so I should still be able to use it. Unfortunately, I still had no luck with the other site. I placed a second call to Amazon support and got a different story. This time, the support person said once I enter the coupon number on Amazon, it's done. Even though no order had been placed, there is no way for them to release the coupon number.
The bottom line is, if I want to use the coupon, I must now order one of the devices Amazon shows as eligible. (By the way, the other site I tried required that an order actually be placed before the coupon was "validated". Shame on Amazon.)
Be careful!
