There are just 70 days left before all televisions must be equipped to receive digital broadcasting — and to help local TV viewers prepare, the major local stations will have an on-air test Dec. 17.

All the full-power broadcast television stations in the Sacramento market — KCRA 3, KQCA My58 TV, CW 31, CBS 13, FOX 40, KUVS, KVIE and News10 — will participate in a soft-shutdown of their analog signal for at least 30 seconds between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17. The test will allow television viewers to see if their television sets are ready for the transition from analog to digital.
