• Mobile DTV Consumer Trials began May 3rd in Washington D.C.

    The Open Mobile Video Coalition, aka OMVC, have begun demonstrating mobile DTV to consumers in the Washington D.C. area last week.

    The mobile DTV demonstration is a collaborative effort by nine Washington-area broadcasters and OMVC to showcase the new broadcast technology. Hundreds of select consumers will be provided with mobile DTV equipped products such as: Inspiron Mini 10 netbookw, Samsung Moment mobile phonew, mobile digital TV and portable DVD player combos from LG Electronics, Tivizen Mobile DTV receiver from Valups which receive mobile DTV signals then broadcast to Wi-Fi devices.

    Consumers with mobile Digital equipped televisions in the D.C. area will be able to receive approximately 20 programs broadcasted in MDTV, including:

    - Local NBC programming from WRC (NBC Universal);
    - Local Fox programming from WTTG (Fox) and local My Network programming from WDCA along
    with the Fox News Channel and the Fox Business Network;
    - MSNBC, CNBC, and other premium programming to be announced on WPXW (ION Media
    Networks);
    - Programming from Univision and additional premium programming to be announced and sent
    from facilities of WFDC (Univision);
    - PBS Mobile and PBS Kids shows from WHUT (Howard University);
    - Local CBS programming and weather radar from WUSA (Gannett Broadcasting);
    - Global News and information on MHz 1, and premium programming to be announced and sent
    from WNVC (MHz Networks);
    - CW network shows, and entertainment/music shows from This TV and TheCOOLTV from WNUV
    (Sinclair Broadcast Group.)
