  • The Kennedys Are Back On TV

The Kennedys are center stage once again, courtesy of the History Channel, which is in the process of filming its first scripted mini-series in its history.

The most recent news off the set was the deja vu feeling of seeing Katie Holmes dressed in Jacqueline Kennedy's infamous pink pillbox dress from that fateful day in Dallas back in November 1963 when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Holmes looked remarkably like Jackie in the shots of her disembarking the plane at the airport. Pink hat, white gloves, and that famous hairdo in tact, Holmes is set to be the actress who most closely resembles the First Lady since Jaclyn Smith played the role for the 1981 movie, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy.

Greg Kinnear is playing opposite Holmes as JFK, while Barry Pepper is appearing as Robert F. Kennedy, who was the attorney general at the time of the killing. Playing Ambassador Kennedy, the head of the Irish-Catholic family, is Tom Wilkinson.

The mini-series will be called simply The Kennedys, and the word is that it will focus on the personal aspects of what went down more than what occurred in the Oval office.

An air date has yet to be announced, though it's expected to be sometime in 2011.
