The pay television industry managed to grab a total of 5 out of the 18 worst companies; Charter Communications, Comcast, and Time Warner Cable held the 1st, 3rd, and 5th spots while Cox Communications came in at spot #12. Satellite TV service provider DirecTV occupied 17th place.
The list, put together by businessinsider.com, was based off of a recent survey published by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). Scoring for the survey is achieved from customer interviews on the following factors: customer expectations, perceived quality, perceived value, customer complaints, and customer loyalty.
Businessinsider.com notes about the results, "Yet there are terrible, aggravating and disappointing companies that flourish and survive. Most of these companies benefit from near-monopolies."
