A Pen That Relieves Stress?
Stress. Now that's a word that most people can identify with all too well in this world. Most wish there would be an easy way of getting rid of it. The latest technology has, in fact, revealed an easy yet unusual way to deal with that ugly fact of life, though it doesn't necessarily solve the entire problem. From the mind of researcher Miguel Bruns Alonso comes the stress pen.
The product stems from the habit people have of playing with pens and other writing utensils when feeling anxious. All that twirling, tapping, and finickiness indicates that stress is present.
According to The Tech Journal, Alonso's stress pen contains motion sensors to detect those telling movements. What the makes the pen intriguing is that once it detects stress, internal electromagnets provide corresponding counter-motion feedback to essentially cease the stressful behavior.
Experiments revealed that the invention did indeed diminish test subjects’ heart rates to a degree; however, none of the test subjects actually felt less stressed.
At the moment, the pen is not available for sell.
