First, for the second year in a row, Reelz will air the Creative Arts Emmy Awards which is being produced by Spike Jones. Scheduled to air on September 22nd at 8 p.m., the event is actually taking place on the 15th of that month. It will be edited to fit the two hour time slot.Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of the Reelz Channel, released a statement that said in part, "This night is all about the incredible artists whose work brings our industry to life. They deserve to have their efforts recognized, showcased and celebrated and we’re proud to help make that possible.”
Once upon a time, all the Emmy Awards were presented at the same time, but as the length of the event stretched into several hours, many awards were separated into this special night's presentation. It is a model also followed by other prestigious ceremonies, including the coveted Oscars.
Also slated to air in the fall is the mini series, World Without End. This is an 8-hour story that is based on the book of the same name by Ken Follett. It is a sequel to his Pillars of the Earth and takes place in the 14th century.
The mini series features the talents of Cynthia Nixon, Rupert Evans, Miranda Richardson, Megan Follows, Ben Chaplin, Peter Firth, and Charlotte Riley as well as many others.
Of the drama, Hubbard stated, "We’re proud to take our viewers inside Ken Follett’s intriguing and magnificent world through a story that is cinematic in scope with an award-winning cast, crew and creators."
In addition to these offerings, the channel's first scripted series, True Justice starring Steven Seagal, will return for a second season of 13 shows. The first episodes showed positive numbers and growth for the channel.
