'The Dog Whisperer' Becomes 'Leader of the Pack'

Wednesday, Cesar Millan confirmed that his successful series, The Dog Whisperer, was coming to an end. The show has been a mainstay of the National Geographic Channel for the past eight years. A ninth season of episodes has recently been completed and will air over the summer.

New shows will feature several well known people, including Hugh Hefner, Jillian Michaels, and Kelsey Grammer. Also on tap are Greg Biffle and Kevin Harvick, two NASCAR race car drivers who are known in the racing community for their love of dogs. Biffle in particular works regularly to help canines through The Greg Biffle Foundation for Animals which annually sells calendars featuring NASCAR drivers and their pets.

However, Millan is not going far. Rather, he is just changing gears. Reports indicate a new show entitled Leader of the Pack will be produced with Millan. The premise has people from the UK, Italy, and the Netherlands going to Spain to be evaluated by Millan with the successful ones allowed to adopt a dog. These previously unadoptable dogs have to undergo their own rehabilitation process, but Millan believes all dogs deserve a second chance, and he is hoping others will, too. Initially, this is a 12 part series.
