  • 'Live! with Kelly' Begins Contest Search for Co-Host with Kelly Ripa

The quest to find a co-host for Kelly Ripa rolls on. Since Regis Philbin left the show in 2011, Live! With Kelly has had a slew of well known co-hosts, including her husband, Mark Consuelos. The real life couple have had positive reviews as an on air team. However, not long ago, Consuelos vetoed any notion of joining the show on a regular basis. The actor/producer stated that it would destroy their marriage if they worked together on a daily basis.

The search for a co-host is now taking on another element, that of giving the general public a chance to co-host for a day and see what happens from there. Starting this week and running through June 29, video submissions are being welcomed at both LiveWithKelly.tv and CohostSearch.com.

The potential co-hosts will have their videos reviewed and a top ten will be announced on July 9. Then the audience will get to view all of the videos and vote themselves, ultimately coming up with a top five that will be revealed on the 11th of July. The lucky top five will be flown to New York City for official tryouts with the Live With Kelly powers that be. The chosen winner will get to co-host the July 24 episode.

Ratings for the talk show with Ripa at the helm have been on par with those done with the actress/host alongside Philbin.

The best one I've seen is with Howie Mandel. He's the only one that kept me from flipping the channels!

Howie's pretty busy so I doubt he's interested in doing this all the time. It'll be interesting to see who gets the actual job, though they really don't seem to be in a rush.
