Alex Trebek is in Jeopardy: Heart Attack #2
Alex Trebek, 71, is said to be in good spirits and recovering from his second "minor" myocardial infarction Saturday and he is currently at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center under observation. He suffered his first heart attack in 2007 at age 66 but was able to return to filming Jeopardy within a few weeks.
Jeopardy! began in 1964 on NBC hosted by Art Fleming and continued to 1975 in a variety of time slots. There was a short-lived attempt by NBC to resurrect the show around 1978 to no avail, however, a second, successful resurrection took place in 1984 using modernized technology and a modernized theme song: the show was moved by its syndicator King World, to ABC.
Trebek has hosted the popular ABC game show since 1984 and few recall he was also was the executive producer from its revival to 1987, then passed production to George Vosburgh and Alex continued another 25 years as host. Before this health issue he had been considering retiring when his current contract expires in 2014.
