Veteran Actor Ed Asner to Guest Star on Hawaii 5-0
Veteran actor Ed Asner is keeping busy. The 82-year-old actor, who won hearts with his boisterous yet sensitive portrayal of Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore comedy series and then the self-named spinoff drama, will be returning for another guest spot on Hawaii Five-O this fall. Asner first played the role of August March in the original series that starred Jack Lord. Last season, he reprised the character in an intriguing episode that ended with a twist. Just what happens in the next installment has yet to be revealed. 5-0 is currently beginning production on its first episode. Asner's scenes are slated to be shot next week and will appear in the series' second episode of the season.
Asner has been working on a Hallmark TV movie entitled Two In. He plays Chief Buddy opposite Days of Our Lives star, Allison Sweeney. He's also in several films that are in various stages of production, from completed to pre-production, including Home Alone 5: Alone in the Dark with Malcolm McDowell and Debi Mazar.
The twice-elected past president of the Screen Actors Guild has been cast to appear in the independent film, Should've Been Romeo, that stars Paul Ben-Victor and Carol Kane. The actor is also headed to Broadway in October for a limited run when he will star in Grace, along with Paul Rudd and Kate Arrington. The drama focuses on a twosome who plan on opening a chain of gospel motels in Florida.
There is no slow down in sight for this outspoken and talented performer.
