Entertainment news was buzzing along several fronts this past week, including a new reality TV show being filmed covering the life of baseball's banned-for-life Pete Rose. The former Cincinnati Red all-star probably would have made it to the Hall of Fame except for accusations that he gambled during his tenure as a player and manager, including betting on his team.

TLC NetworkAccording to Entertainment Weekly, the new series centers on Rose and his fiance, Kiana Kim, who is a Playboy bunny and several decades his junior in age. Cameras are currently following the couple in preparation for the show that will air on TLC.

Elsewhere, Kathie Lee Gifford found herself apologizing on The Today Show for earlier comments that essentially opined that musical diva Aretha Franklin was too old to take on an American Idol judging chair, something Franklin is interested in. While Gifford apologized, she also elaborated that her remarks were intended to point out that kids today do not know many of the legends of the era.

Lastly, with his Saving Hope drama series having wrapped for the season, Michael Shanks is busy filming a new TV movie in Vancouver. The Bouquet is being produced by Jack Nasser and directed by Anne Wheeler, both of whom Shanks has worked with in the past. Scheduled for a 2013 run, the movie also stars Danny Glover and Kristy Swanson.
