'The Voice' Hires Shakira and Usher to Replace Aguilera and Green
The blind auditions for The Voice's fall season are continuing to air on NBC even as the network shores up plans for the spring debut of the competition series. With the music reality show now airing twice a year, the demand on its four judges can be daunting as they also attempt to maintain and forward their own singing careers. Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera have announced that they will not be part of the spring season.
Green has several personal projects he wants to attend to, including a series in development at NBC, while Aguilera, who recently told Ryan Seacrest that she considers her participation on The Voice to be a "side project," is completing a new album and also intends to go on tour to promote its release. Green has already indicated that he will definitely be back for cycle six while producers have indicated they expect Aguilera to return as well.
Replacing the two judges for the fifth go around of The Voice will be Shakira and Usher while both Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will continue their often entertaining and sometimes adversarial bromance on the show.
Meanwhile, over at Fox Aguilera's Mouseketeer rival Britney Spears continues her judging duties amid chatter of diva-like behavior on The X-Factor while on American Idol, rumors of a feud between new judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj gain public attention with regularity.
