The PSA centers around those in the state of Michigan where voters need to elect officials such as Supreme Court judges. As put forward by the West Wing cast, all playing their original roles, it will be easy for party-only voters to totally ignore the other offices that are located below and on the back of ballots. The PSA was the brainchild of Bridget Mary McCormack, whose sister Mary starred in The West Wing before landing the USA series, In Plain Sight. Bridget McCormack herself is running for the Michigan State Supreme Court as a nonpartisan candidate.
Early on, activist Martin Sheen agreed to appear in the advert, and soon, a heaping spoonful of the fictional White House office staff signed on. Recreating their West Wing roles for the four-minute spot are Alison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Joshua Malina, Lily Tomlin, and, of course, the acting Mary McCormack.
Surprisingly entertaining, the PSA actually plays well to the personalities of the TV characters and includes plenty of humor to go along with the message. Take a look here at the PSA.
