Google released details on a new, web based based TV product today, Google TV. Details about the new platform were made available at the Google I/O developer conference.
Google TV will be available this Fall in devices from Sony, Logitech, as well as plans for integration with select DirecTV set top boxes. The platform will operate much like a web browser and feature tools for TV watchers including;
- Searching for a specific show or movie and next air dates
- Search results will also include web results
- Search can also be done to include content from Hulu and Amazon
- Captions can be done according to language selection for live TV
Interested consumers who do not want to purchase a new television but want Google TV can purchase a Logitech Companion Box.
