Here is my concern - on my converter box, I'm only getting something like 12-18 hour of the guide, and no TVG logo. However, according to rabbitears, my local CBS channel is supposed to be including the TVGOS info. FWIW, I have no problem receiving that channel. As I understand it, the TVGOS would give me the extended schedule, true? Is there something I need to "do" to enable to TVGOS display, or is this maybe something that will change after the transition? Well, I guess I can wait 4 days and 17 hours to find out
If the converter box doesn't have the extended guide, would the DVR? One of the plusses of the Comcast DVR that I have is the two week onscreen guide. I can scan through that and program shows that are on next week when I think of them.

the guide doesn't work any better whether in psip or tv guide mode. if u want to change it go to preferences>guide display>and pick the one u want.
hopefully dish will fix this, or tv guide will be willing to put up all the info they have available to give us 7 days of programming, but have been known to be very difficult to comply with offering us our services (programming guide)
hopefully after the transition, but please , do not hold your breath.

I also have an older Panasonic DVR that I'm using with my cable system. It uses TVG, which I'm assuming it gets from the local PBS station. (It's definitely not the same guide I get w/ Comcast, and it's actually more accurate than the cable one). It usually gives me 7 days of guide, although it occasionally gives me a "no info" type of message and I have to fake it into reloading. I assumed in those cases Comcast has messed around with the channel lineup. I sort of assumed that the digital TVG would behave the same.
Also, I tried going into setup on the DTVpal box and it told me it was going to erase everything and reboot. That was fine w/ me since I don't have anything stored anyhow, but even so, it still came up with no TVG logo. Guess I'll just wait a few days and see what happens.

You can go here RabbitEars.Info and find if you're receiving TVGOS signal.

When I went into the preferences, I got a dialog box saying that if I continued it would delete the digital features and reboot. I did that, and it thought for a few seconds and rebooted. When it came back up, every button I pressed gave me another dialog box saying if I continued, it would reboot and restore the digital features. So I continued and am back to the original setup with no TVG.
Yes, rabbitears says that my local CBS channel carries TVG. OTOH, that channel is running promos that after 12:30 PM on Friday, people need to rescan to get their signal, so maybe when they change frequencies the TVGOS will kick in.
I don't really care that much whether the DTVpal plus gets the real TVG. I'm more concerned with whether the DTVpal DVR would get it, and am assuming that its behavior would mimic the converter box's.

I would wait and see what happens on the 12th of June. If you still aren't getting TVGOS contact the station engineer for the station responsible for TVGOS in your area. Inform him of the issue.

I have only had PSIP up until today. I ran through the setup menu as if the DVR had never been connected and now receive the full TVGOS. I'm not positive if the DTV transition had anything to do with it. I did the same thing yesterday and only had PSIP.

Here is a picture of my fully functional TVGOS. I scrolled through the program guide as far in advance as it would let me. I get seven (7) days of programming on most of the station information. Todays date is in the upper right hand corner (Sat, June 13 3:53pm) and the program date is in the left column (Sat, 6/20 3:00pm). This makes me very happy to finally have the TVGOS fully functional.

I don't see a preferences>guide display. Actually, I don't even have a preferences, just a setup
Closest I can find is Setup>TVGuide and Guide+ which I'm now assuming serves a different function - something about setting up a guide on a tv or vcr.
Maybe the extended TVG doesn't exist on the converter box.
