Yet another DTV DVR question. On my Comcast dvr, if I schedule a series recording of a particular show, and the program happens to air on a different day (rescheduled for some reason, like pre-empted by sports) the Comcast Moto figures that out and records it. The Panasonic doesn't seem to notice and completely skips the odd program.

How does the DTV one handle that?

one of the few serious flaws of the dtvpal dvr, u r just sol, and must set up those recordings on your own. the more we point out these things to dish the more likely they will address these issues. come on guys/gals email or call them, get after them and they will probably improve the dtvpal features

Have there been any changes to the program menu or channel menu with any of the firmware upgrades?

Word on the street is that the DTVPal DVR is now a Sears exclusive. Sears is selling it for $299. Many other websites are still listing the price as $239, but research indicates that none of them have any stock left, they aren't expecting any new inventory and they are not accepting new orders.

If anyone sees a DTVPal DVR available for sale from a retail website, in stock and able to be ordered, for less than $299, please let me know. Several folks are looking for one.

I've been looking for one for awhile but am strongly thinking of going the MythTv route ... I think I can do this for about the same price ...

Well, to be clear, you might be able to do it for the same price plus the cost of the computer itself. Folks going the way you're thinking usually justify their choice because they already have a personal computer that has the power and video capability necessary.
