The emergency broadcast system (EBS) will work with a battery powered digital tv (
DTV). The
DTV would need to be set up in a stationary location. If you were traveling by car, foot or other, you would want a good radio for emergency information. Currently there isn't an option for a walkman type
DTV receiver unless you live in Japan.

The US is in the earliest stage of
DTV and I wouldn't expect much time to pass before we see a similar device here in the US.
We're more interested in audio for emergencies instead of tv
