I have a choice between the Apex DT250 and the Insigna NX-DXA1 converter box. Not many choices I know but I don't know where else to look besides Best Buy or Wal-Mart and I don't want to buy online. Best Buy actually only had a few left in stock which kind of worries me but I don't want to buy a junk one either. Should I go with one of the two above or is there another place I should be looking.

Hands down the Insigna wins. It is a pretty good box.

Agree with Piggie 100%. I actually bought and returned the Apex box because it lacks a decent program guide and the darn power status indicator light on the front of it was way too bright. I would suggest taking a look at the specs on the DTVPal Plus converter online too. You won't be able to buy the DTVPal in a store, but you can order online from a few reputable companies.

Thanks for the suggestions. Just wanted to know if there are any other stores that sell converter boxes in the Seattle, Washington area?

Use the Government's "Find a Retailer" page at their converter box site: https://www.dtv2009.gov/VendorSearch.aspx
I'd call around before visiting another store. Stores are probably going to start running out.

Insignia NX-DXA1 is rock solid. Retailers are having a challenge keeping these in stock.

Yes the DTVPal Plus beats the Insignia but can only be bought online.
The best thing available in stores is the Insignia

The program guide is better, but nothing more from my experience. The DTVPal Plus is available over the counter at all Sears stores.

Good to know, didn't know Sears had them.
There is a guy in the Orlando thread on AVS, that lived near the airport (very busy every 2 minutes a big jet lands). He tried them all and had constant break ups from airplane skip. (it's real, I used to work in on 224MHz with a buddy 40 miles from me). He tried the Insignia and the DTVPal Plus was the only one that didn't have mulitpath problems. I wasn't there at his house, etc, but I believe what he said.
I own both but never put them side by side in a test. I should.

Definitely check the retailers list at the dtv.gov site. That's what we've been utilizing, and it's a huge time saver. Sears has the DTV Pals but they run out of them as soon as they get them in, but they are still getting shippings. However, you may find a retailer that is lesser known with more frequent shipments by checking the retailers on the dtv.gov site.

We bought the Insignia 5+ months ago. No issues thus far.
