Default 'no signal'

I live in the country. Right now, without the converter box, I get one station very strongly and two barely-clear stations.
I have a tv less than ten years old, without the separate audio-video plugs, only the coaxial cable plug.
I screwed in a coaxial cable into the tv and the other side into the converter box's 'antenna out' (the $10-with-coupon Walmart Magnavox one). I ran another coaxial cable from the converter box's 'antenna in' to my antenna.
My antenna is a small cube that plugs into the wall, and apparently thus uses the house's electrical system as an antenna.

I turned on the tv and then, with the converter box's remote and on channel 2, had the converter box's program scan for channels. I got 'no signal'.

What is my next action?

You are going to need to determine how far away from the digital broadcast towers are from your residence before someone can recommend a antenna for you. Go to www.tvfool.com and type your address in. Once it gives you the results with a link, post the link here for us to diagnose. It won't display your address, only your zip code.

Hmm, small cube that plugs into the wall? Never heard of that before. Is that the power supply?

I think he has the square RCA Flat antenna. Is that the one? Are you in a fringe area?

Indoor antennas in fringe areas will not work with digital. You need to go outdoors.

Thanks for all of the answers.

I'm not sure what a 'fringe area' is; I don't think I live in one. I do think that's the right antenna, though another company (Radio Shack) made it.

I lucked on the solution. I hadn't checked into the 'setup' button. I did so, pulling up the box's menu, and fiddled with the buttons ('rh out' vs. channel 3, and so on) and rescanned the channels with each new combination until I hit one that worked.

Now I have like eight+ channels for free. Great deal for a one-time fee of $10!
