Default converter boxes on a portable TV and close caption

what I want to know is...
if the coverter boxes will work on portable 5 inch tv's that were analog and will they pick up close caption as I'm deaf

if one has to use the converter box and the power goes out; can the boxes be charged like say with a battery pack?

thanks for your time and if you could reply by using my e-mail Id would appreciate very much as I won't know where to find your
answer on your web site to my question..

someone on youtube made a battery pack thing and it worked i guess, search for it. As for the box on portable tv's, yes, you can use them.

You need a Balun screwed to the portable tv's external antenna adapter, and then you'd just hook up the box like you normally would on a regular tv

and yes, you can still use closed captions, just activate it in the box's menu

Hi again Ginny,
have you had a chance to find who manufactured (Sony? Toshiba?) your 5" TV or the model number?

Here's a link to one battery operated converter box: http://www.dtvusaforum.com/winegard-...ox-market.html and here's a video of it being used: http://www.dtvusaforum.com/winegard-...wer-video.html
