Welcome to the DTVUSA Forum. Dish Network DTVPal Plus has by far the best EPG.

Here's a thread that references the EPG on the DTVPal Plus here: Is this what TVGOS looks like on a converter box?

Wow, I didn't expect a reply that quickly!!!!have been considering the dtv pal plus seriously, but have read a bunch of reviews about the bugs... what sort of quality control ratio have they got?i currently have 3 cm-7000's,had a 4th, but traded it 4 a coupon for 1 box w/ better epg...,and again, its decision making time on box 4...

oh, we're good here. we live for DTV.

It's a little early to make any conclusions about quality control on the converter boxes. Based on this forum and problems that people have had with other CECB's, I'd definitely avoid the Magnavox TB-100MG9 Converter Box - DTV USA Forum, the zinwell received one bad review here too Zinwell ZAT-970 Converter Box - DTV USA Forum

I currently don't know of any 'bugs' with the Dish DTVPal+

Other than the LOLing at the 'Dish Network' branding and the recycled satellite receiver OS screens used in the Satellite receivers:

"the Program Guide Information is currently being downloaded to your receiver, please wait or press 'STOP' to cancel"

--Which results in nothing to tune to. lol

"ERROR 500 (or 501, 502, etc): The signal has been temporarily lost. satellite acquisition is in progress"

--Um, it's not a satellite box lol, although more recently it's been changed to 'signal' instead of 'satellite' so it either updated itself or something.

The bugs you are hearing about are for the DTVPal DVR, not the DTVPal Plus. The bugs in the Dish Network DTVPal DVR have also been fixed with the latest firmware update. If you ever start thinking of ways to record the programming I would highly recommend the DVR. It would be a great addition to anyones HTR.

Did you call your local Sears store? They are currently out of stock online, but are getting shipments into the local stores quite frequently.

To:1inxs;Yeah called Sears, truck comes wed. the 17th, coupon expires the 16th; but thanx again for the suggestion;at this point I am running way low on options...re,solid signal phone call, etc, and also, is the dtv pal plus the only dish network cecb with the great epg? What about the tr-40cra?I probably wont be able to find that one either, because i believe it is an older model, but any and all suggestions will be viewed with great interest, and thanks again....

Update: Tried calling one of the local K-marts,but not the metro one, this one is in the county, hoping for a less savvy clientele, and,[drum roll] .......................SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never thought I'd be praising the Kmart people, but i found 2, so going there after i get off work, and forking over 19.99 + 5.55 tax for 1 and hoping it's not dead out of the box.... what is echostars return policy on defective boxes after Kmarts 30-day return expires?Anyone familiar with this?THANX AGAIN,EVERYONE!!!
