Default Converter for my LCD monitor

Does an RCA output from the new converter box interface to VGA on my LCD monitor. Is there a cable with RCA at one end to feed into a digital DVI to connect my LCD computer monitor? Help me simplify these these devices without too many gadgets possibly with a cable.

WayneL, Welcome to the DTVUSA Forum. There are no feasible options for connecting a CECB to a VGA monitor. There are HD tuners that would only require a simple adapter. Here's an option from a CECB to a VGA monitor, but again, for $79.99 it may not be feasible.

Pricey! My XBOX360 component to VGA was only like $20 or so a couple years ago. Wonder why those are so expensive.

Thank you so much everyone for your help. I found this too: Amazon.com: EFORCITY VGA to S-Video / RCA Adaptor: Electronics

but not DVI.

I don't want to spend more than $10 for a cord. Please post back here if the both of you find anything else or if anyone else knows where to get a DVI to RCA cable.

The problem is not with the cable. The signal needs to be converted before it can be connected to a VGA monitor.

Are you wanting to use the VGA monitor due to lack of space? If it's a money issue, you could purchase a second hand TV with the necessary connections for $20.00 or less. Another way, if your VGA monitor is currently connected to a PC, for under $15.00 you could purchase a second hand HTSC tuner card and install it in the tower. There are also external tuners for around the same price.

Composite Video out of a converter box is only capable with CGA monitor and only if the CGA monitor has a composite input. Of course most CGA monitors are long gone. For a while when they became obsolete with the first VGAs, you could buy them dirt cheap out of catalogs and hook them to the output of a VCR and you have a TV and VCR. VCRs were also cheap as people trashed them for any reason and where easy to fix. Basically the old CGA standard was NTSC.

Seems to me for all that money to convert, it would be just a cheap to buy a good USB or Tuner card for the computer, then you would also have a DVR.

I have one of these:
Newegg.com - KWORLD SA290-Q LE Digital TVBox w/YPbPr 1080i Output - TV Tuners & Video Devices

The tuner is excellent.
HD picture quality is great.
SD picture quality somewhat below par.
The GUI is clunky.
