Default Does a TV have to be turned on when recording from a converter box to a vcr?

My TV is a SANYO Model #DS20930. I currently record daily TV programs while I am away. I'm thinking that I do not have to turn on VCR to see the program while it is being recorded and the picture can be seen without the VCR being “on”, though it does seem to come in “stronger” when viewed with the VCR
being “on.”
My TV’s model number was not located on the short list received with my comverter box coupons which have to be used before 6/03/08.

Hello Nikki and welcome to the forum!

The Dish DTVpal, DTVpal plus, and Zinwell ZAT-970A all have VCR timers that work well. Others, not so much.

Of those 3 the Dish DTVpal and DTVpal Plus have much better TV program guides. If you live in a fringe area then go with the DTVpal Plus as it has a better tuner.....however these command a premium price on eBay because of that. If you live in a relatively good reception area, then go with the DTVpal regular and save a few bucks.

And no your TV does not have to be on to record a show, just the Converter Box and VCR.

NikkiT, Welcome to the forum. You'll need to explain your question a little better to get help. If connected correctly, your Sanyo TV does not need to be on during timed VCR recordings from a CECB. Having the TV on would have no affect on the picture quality of a recorded program.

If you need to use your $40.00 coupon before 6/03/08, you will need to apply for new coupons. No retailer will be able to accept expired coupons.
