Why can i see the images just fine? btw i just put the problem into the chatbox, even though i have zero trouble out of three devices. two wireless devices and one public access kiosk.
Perhaps i should try photobucket?
Can you see it now? if so then the forum here has issues. but again, i can see everything fine.
The last distro i tried of linux was ubuntu. the Adobe Flash player wasn't packaged with it. i tried to do like i did normally and go to their site and click 'install flash player' and they said 'error. there's no flash player available for your operating system or browser.' so i went to download a tarball of the player for my specific version of linux and platform and kernel version. then it scrolled for a few minutes a bunch of jargon about this dependency and that not existing and failed. a few other downloaded games did the same thing. there's at this time no simple 'EXE file' to double-click and it works. yet. i mean i could use what it came with and browse the internet minus flash or J2re and download/play back MP3s and DivX video, but if i wanted more it was harder than anything to get it installed and work without either failing entirely or booting me from the X window system to a command prompt (which i suppose is their method of 'crashing'.)
Yes, some distros come with Flash player, and many other programs, but if i wanted to download or install more, i couldn't easily do it. what good is an OS if i can only use what it's packaged with? it simply cannot replace MacOS or Windows. yet. Linux is great for those who are fluent in Unix stuff, but aside from considering an older copy which i successfully installed (manually) the X window system plus Gnome, that's about the only time i accomplished anything big on the system. the others install easily and work, but installing anything from online is still a caveat. it can be done, but not easily to a beginner. i've played with linux on older hardware (i don't want to wipe a good machine such as my netbook and render it a brick yet) and had fun just doing what i already do on my smartphone or touch, but what i
want to do with it it's not easy in my humble opinion.
To download/use any program such as Flash player i had to use the included WINE emulator or whatever it is that allows me to use IE and the flash player for it for windows. but if i wanted to get Linux i'd expect to get away from windows. i cannot help but find it very counterproductive to use linux to still use windows. that's like me buying a MacBook Pro just to use WinXP in a virtual machine.
