    hard drive for DirecTV DVR

I bought a Maxtor 500gb hard drive for added storage onto my VIP 722 receiver but for some reason it doesn't recognize it. What to do?

What kind of HD are you using? Which receiver are you trying to connect it to? Are you talking about replacing your internal hard drive or are you trying to connect an external HD?

Looks like the OP is talking about an external drive if it's for the VIP 722. With DirecTV you don't have to call their support to get the hard drive enable right? That's only with Dish I think.
