Default Quick question about Powerline Ethernet

I'm getting ready to set up two HR23's.

One location has CAT 5 next to the TV.
The other location does NOT have CAT 5 close to the box.

I'm thinking about using a Powerline Ethernet switch to get an internet connection at the second box.

Is this the way to go... is 85 mbs fast enough to download PPV?

Also, what is the second ethernet port on the back of the HR23 for (a switch maybe)?

Thanks!

I think the fastest that on demand servers have for transfer rate is 6 mbs so you should be fine. How far away is will the powerline adapter be located from the wireless router? How many walls are between the adapter and the router?

The router is in a closet off of the master bath and the 2nd location is in the master bedroom - so the bathroom is between the router and the TV - 2 walls I think.

I have the powerline adapter. I've got it upstairs connected to a wireless router connected which is connected to a cable modem. The adapter itself is connected via cat5 into the wireless router and plugged into a wall outlet. I have the other powerline adapter in my family room, plugged in to the wall outlet and directly into my HR23. I've had it connected for the few months. It works great with PPV, On Demand, and everything else.

It should work fine for you. The distance between both adapters for me is about 50' plus 4-5 walls and a floor. By the way,

Thanks for the Welcome and thanks for the answers.

I also noticed in the Manual that connecting wireless is an option as well. Any Thoughts?

And still wondering what the second Ethernet port is on the back of the HR23 ?

I have the HR23 too. The second port is a Ethernet Switch indeed. If you connect the top port (port 1) you can use the second port for connecting anything else. I use mine for my Vonage phone line and occasionally I'll plug my laptop into it too.
