DirecTV on Demand: Anybody from the forum here use it?

Do I have to have an HD DVR to use the DirecTV on Demand service? Which receivers can get it? Anybody happy with it? Wanted to see if it was worth the upgrade. This is my first post so I appreciate any answers.

I'm not sure which receivers can access DirecTV in demand, but mine does. It works well, but it's definitely not a feature I use often.

Isn't on demand the same as pay per view? We have done that once or twice for movies, and once for a football game. We don't do it very often, though because usually we see a movie at the theater for the whole experience.
