Default Will a used HD DVR work with DirecTV?

If I were to buy a used HD Receiver like the HR20, HR21, HR22, or HR23, will it work with my DirecTV service? I know I'll probably have to pay more but I'd like to know if I can buy one off of Craigslist and not have any problems. Thanks so much again for everyone's help.

Yes but DirecTV will have to activate it for you before it'll work. Call DirecTV first before you buy the receiver just to make sure. Also, even though a used receiver seems cheap, DirecTV may give you a better offer over the phone.

Just make sure you've got a DirecTV dish to connect to your HD receiver too.

Don't forget the cable either.
