    Joke

Dish Network is a scam, you see all over the TV and INTERNET about how they offer HD free for life.
This in fact is not true they only offer free HD for life if you sign a 2 year agreement and/or pay a one time fee of 0 so were does the FREE come into it.

They are a joke their false statements alone make me stick with my local cable company, at least if I am not satisfied with it I can call and cancel without having to pay a huge payo out fee.

When I was with DirecTV I had to sign a 2 year agreement anyway. Dish network is the same, since my mom signed the 2yr contract on her Dish service when she signed up. I don't think this necessarily hinges on the free HD deal. All satellite providers want to lock you into contract to recoup their equipment costs and get a certain amount of profit from you.

Both providers started with 1 year agreements, and now they are up to 2 years if you want free installation. They want to recoup the cost of the installation. If you don't want a contract, they charge you for the installation.

I apologize for the late reply, just to clarify there is an option to sign up for the HD free for life by signing a 24 month agreement and signing up for credit card autopay. This would all be offered at no cost, there is also an option for those who are unhappy with the idea of signing an agreement. This option is to pay $99 upfront which basically pays for 10 months of HD after that the HD programming is at no cost for the life of the account. Even while the second option does cost $99 upfront it saves $240 a year and basically provides flexibility for our customers.

If a station broadcast in HD then does Dish have the option of stoping the broadcast in HD? I have a antenna on my roof and I get free HD for life.

    goodbye dish network

yeah I just got screwed by dish out of $160, becuase of the additional 2 year contract with "FREE" hd for life. Wake up Dish network, standard definition is GONE. I don't care what acronyms you apply to current TV tecnology now or in the future, if I am paying cash for TV I want it to be current technology!!!! that is why I am closing my dish account, paying the early term fee, and NEVER, EVER, EVER supporting dish again. On to directv, and once they eventually apply the same standard 'screw our customers' business practices that are rampent throughought pay TV providers, then on to cable (for their turn to do the same) then back to good ol free over the air. unless of course some company decides to stand up and play fair, (AHAHAHA HA HA HA HA AAAHHH HA HA) which I'm sure will be happening either today or tomorrow at the latest.
