Default Programming Your DVR from a Remote Location

In case you didn't know, it's possible to program a show to your DVR if you have one of the new ViP series DVR's. It will NOT work if you paid the $39 to have a ViP211 non-DVR with DVR functions enabled.

To activate this feature to your ViP622, 722, 722k or 611 receiver, go to the Dish Network web site and sign up. It's a free service as well.

Your receivers must be hooked to a broadband internet connection. It's pretty easy to figure out but it works kind of slow. For this reason I rarely use it.

But anyway it's nice to know you could be off on a trip somewhere and find out there is a show you want to record. You simply open an internet connection and log in to program your show. Good stuff.

I knew it could be done with the Tivo service. It's good information to get out to the Dish Network subscribers. Good post!

Well here is something new and interesting. If you have signed up for this service, again, it's free you can now see..

1. If you have an OTA antenna and even if it's aimed at a different market but you can receive the OTA signal, you can now see that OTA station including all it's digital sub channels online in the guide using this service.

2. You can also manage all your recordings through this service including the ones that you have moved to an external hard drive! I am seeing it all! The only strange thing about this, and I am sure it is because of the pending lawsuit between Dish and the now defunct Voom, is you will not see where any content you recorded from Voom really came from.

Example: I know I recorded "An American Werewolf in London" from the MonstersHD channel. The online guide says I got it from The Movie Channel.

Another example: I know I got a Yes / Jethro Tull concert from the Montreux Jazz Festival from RaveHD but the online guide says it came from Lifetime? Now that is crazy!

The online guide does not recognize the logo for MyTV yet. It will just show as an independent.

It is almost scary. It's like big brother sees everything you are doing. It is still kind of clunky the way it works. It's very slow. It does almost see everything you are doing with your DVR.

The AAD channels are said to be coming soon if you subscribe to them.

Sounds cool. I wish there was a service that could combine both DirecTV and Dish Network into one package and one DVR receiver for half the price. Maybe I'm asking too much.

You can program your DirecTV DVRs from the DirecTV web site, too. They also have an app for iPhones.
