I went to Best Buy to purchase the crappy APEX DT250 digital converter box from hell!!
Went to the register to pay for it and had my coupons ready and the cashier swiped the cards and it wouldn't work. So, she called over the manager and she also attempted to get the card to work but it was a no go. Then the manager looked closer at the card and it had expired. I didn't even realize they had an expiration date! What idiot thought that was a good idea? Probably some moronic asshat rethug but anyway, the manager told me to hang onto my receipt and apply for replacement cards and when I got them, to bring them into the store with my converter box purchase receipt and she'd refund the difference back to me!! And she signed and dated the receipt! I applied for new cards last week in October 2008 and I'm still waiting for them, even though I got approved online. WTF is the hold up? BTW? The digital converter box sucks the royal route! I bought a new rabbit ear antenna AND a signal amplifier and I barely get 2 channels and have to reposition the antenna constantly to try to get CBS, ABC or NBC, etc.!! With the box turned off, using only the antenna, I get 18 channels!! WTF?! This sucks!!!

as of now the government will not replace expired coupons if you order two and they expire you are out of luck, if you order one you can apply for one more but they are out of money so all you get is put on a waiting list and if they get more money they will send them out, My thing is with all the unused and exopired coupons where did all the money go?

I get ya... but that was the last RW administration. ugh.
We have a whole new president now and he's just as concerned as you and I are about this switch over and he knows that a lot of people are not ready yet and I'm betting that more money gets added to this program, before to long.
As far as the money? I think a lot of late comers were given the money that was originally designated for our expired coupons. I didn't even know they had an expiration date on them or I would have used them sooner but I was also arranging for us to move to a new home and every penny we had was tied up in moving costs. I wish I had used them sooner but I do think more money will be added to this program... eventually.
BTW? The default issue is 2 coupons. I don't recall requesting 2. It just said I was eligible for 2.

Yes the program has not been good in implementing by the Govt and the authorities they have failed to that, with such a situation they should fund the project properly.

I am in agreement with all of the above
however,
if you don't see a converter box in a store, you can ask them to order it. They will take your coupon and any additional money due, order it and you will be able to pick it up from that store. this way you won't waste time looking for a box while your expiration date is getting closer

I took my coupons to Circuit City, they did not have any in stock for which the coupons were allowed to be used. O well.. I did not think much of it. I took my coupons to Best Buy, who also did not have any in stock for which the coupon applied. Next I took my coupons to Walmart. They also did not have any in stock for which the coupon could be used.
Three times in a row.. what is going on?
I inquired from the sales rep at Walmart and the story I got was
There are none in stock.
There is no estimate for when they will be in stock.
No I can not get a rain check.
Yes he could call around to other stores to find out if any are in stock but he has done that several times over the last few weeks and none were in stock.
So.. yes.. there is a coupon. But no. During the time period mine was valid (Expired July 28, 2008) you can not actually use it to purchase any device in person.
And I am not in an out of the way market... I am talking about Dallas Texas here.. big city.. It seems to me the expiration was not planned in line with product delivery. Big waste of govt money (my taxes) with no benefit to at least this citizen.
