VCR's timer programming & digital set-top box

I recently installed Comcast's digital set-top box to my HDTV (in order to get HD channels). However, my VCR's timer programming no longer works (currently the cable goes from wall to set-top box to VCR to TV by the way). It must have something to do with TV's channel being fixed on channel 3 now, and channel switching being controlled by the set-top box (so the timer programming only works if the preset program is on channel 3). Any idea how to continue to use the full feature of a VCR with the existence of the digital converter/set-top box? Use cable splitter, switch, and/or ??? I don't suppose it has something to do with my VCR not having a digital turner??

If the Comcast box is HD, you can't use the VCR with it. If the VCR is cable ready and you still receive a SD signal into your house, you could use a splitter to work around the issue. Is your VCR cable ready? Did you use the VCR to change channels you were recording? Post back with this information and we should be able to assist you with a work around.

What kind of connections are you using from the set-top-box to the VCR and from the VCR to the HDTV? Coax? RCA?

So you don't have a connection(component cable or HDMI?) from the set-top-box to the TV?
