Cool Cannot record on my VCR

Everything works fine with my new converter box(es) other than recording on a VCR tape. I have placed the VCR between the converter box and the TV, connected with RF cable. Both the TV and VCR are on Channel 3. The reception on the TV is excellent and I receive many more stations through my indoor antenna than I did before the conversion. I can play previously recorded VCR tapes.

Problem: When I try to record the channel I am watching by pressing the Record key on my VCR, it acts as if it is recording. When I play it back, however, I get only black and white noise. There is no image or sound at all.

I have also tried Audio/Video cable in addition to the RF cable for the connections. I have this problem with both VCR-TVs in my home.

What am I doing wrong? Please help.

Unhappy Recording on VCR

Hi. Was interested in reading this post. I bought a new Sony digital tv last December. I have a rooftop antenna. Today I spoke with Sony (tv), Magnavox (converter box), and Panasonic (DVD, VCR recorder). They're pretty much telling me that I can't record to my VCR since I have a digital tv, even if I use a converter box. The videos show hooking up units to analog tvs, so I'm at a loss. Please help. Thank you.

Sabrina, Welcome to the DTVUSA Forum. You need connect the antenna in to a 2 way splitter. Connect 1 of the outputs from the splitter to your Sony HDTV. Connect the 2nd output from the splitter to your Magnavox CECB antenna input. Connect the Magnavox CECB output to the VCR antenna input. Connect the VCR output to a second input on the Sony HDTV. Now when you change the input on the Sony HDTV it will have OTA DTV on one and when you change to the other Sony HDTV input you can watch the VCR. Post back if you have any questions
