If OTA TV Viewership is Dying...

Why Did Channel Master Just Introduce a New Line of OTA TV Antennas?

While CTIA and CEA may want OTA TV to die so that they can make money off telecoms selling data plans the real action is in what CEA's membership is doing. Channel Master has just introduced a new line of antennas called the Masterpiece Antenna Series. I'm sorry Gary Shaprio (liar in chief of CEA), people just don't introduce new product lines for dying markets! Not only has Channel Master introduced a new line of OTA antennas, but Winegard, another old line antenna manufacture also introduced their Free Vision antenna series only last year. That doesn't count new entrants like Antennas Direct and Mohu.

The fact is that pay-TV penetration is dropping as people discover the superior picture of free OTA TV. That coupled with online video offerings is going to make the pay-TV industry less and less profitable. Of course, wireline cable companies still have internet, which may be their saving grace going forward.
    Snappy Dan Reminds You:

DO NOT install antennas anywhere where they could fall into overhead power lines!!! An antenna falling into power lines may result in electrical shock or death. All outdoor antennas must be grounded in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Be careful while working on roofs or towers. Always use appropriate safety precautions!!!

Yep! Antennas Direct recently introduced two new antennas, the DB2e and DB4e. I think the future of FREE TV reception looks pretty good (no pun intended).

I just had my bill raised $5 with my cable provider this month. Definitely not a happy with that. Seems like they want to bill their existing customers more to make up for customers that are cutting the cable.

Just over 80% of my (DVR) recorded programs (those are the ones I absolutely don't want to miss) are via OTA. I haven't seen anything on SiFi or Spike worth watching for a very long time. And of the 20% is majorilly BBC.

The real reason that are cutting the cable is the following

when was the analogic television you only had a decent reception if lived closer enough of the transmitter mostly the time had double images and certain channels one day looks fantastic the next day looks horrible.and had not option that hire cable because could get a near, perfect image with it.

Now since television is broadcasted via digital system have two options or get a great, picture or get nothing and the people uses the tools for aim the antenna and gets a great reception even in urban areas with buildings even on the middle so now pay by cable when get same results and just pay one time by the antenna and other things versus channels amount and quality then is a great deal television over air.

The people hire cable tier with million of TV channels which ones just watch 5 of those million of channels and you can't tell hey don't watch that channel can discount it of my Bill so those reasons are making people cut the cable

    Best regards

You probably could buy the 20% of programs on pay TV and most of the programs on OTA that you watch on DVD and still not pay as much as you are paying for pay TV.
