The old American Made CM 4221A is very, very similar the Antenna Corp. of America's A.C. 320 compared to the AntennaCraft G1483 "4 Bay"...
Figures via Salvati's "TV Antennas & Signal Distribution Systems"
Quote:
Beamwidth
A.C. 320 64 degrees @ 22 and 45 degrees @ 67
G1483 50 degrees @ 22 and 40 degrees @ 50
F/B Ratio
A.C. 320 19 dB @ Ch. 22 and 14 dB @ Ch. 67
G1483 16 dB @ Ch. 22 and 6 dB @ Ch. 50

The Winegard KW4S is kindof similar to the new Chinese made CM 4221

Forward Gain
Winegard KW4S vs G1483 "4 Bay"
Ch.
15 10 dB vs 10 dB
20 12 dB vs 12 dB
25 12 dB vs 14 dB
30 12 dB vs 13 dB
35 10 dB vs 12 dB
40 10 dB vs 11 dB
45 11 dB vs 12 dB
50 12 dB vs 13 dB
55 13 dB vs 13 dB
beyond 55 the G1483 plummets and the KW4S continues to rise to 15 dB at channel 67 then drops off precipitously.
Unknown whether dBd or dBi, EV assumes dBd as this data from Salvati was from 1979

Note about these GAIN numbers:

This is the author's attempt to present the measured gain data on the most useful manner by approximating absolute gain curves and frequency response. The curves were determined by using the manufacturer's gain data for the Gavin CR-5, and then plotting the other antenna curves from that by means of the measured relative gain values. Because fot he many veriables and difficultires of making antann gain measurements, some of these curves differ somewhat from the manufacturer's data. However, this data is far supeior to manufacturer's data for comparing different antennas, because this gain data was compiled ont eh smae test range, on the smae day, with the same equipment, and by the same person.

It is my experience that the AntennaCraft G1483 has a wider beamwidth than the CM 4221A and also has higher gain. Plus it has much higher gain on VHF High channels than the CM 4221A...though neither is a VHF High antenna. Also confirmed is its low
F/B Ratio over a large portionon the UHF band. I was picking up Savannah off the backside with this antenna pointed to Charleston (nearly perfect SouthWest/NorthEast opposites from my location. Charleston at 45 miles and Savannah at 70 miles. (CM 7777 amplifier, 25 ft antenna height, 50 ft RG6, to one good tuner.)
