Such case could be WMUR in manchester new hampshire currently on channel 52 UHF @ 589kW going back to their original analog channel 9 VHF with 6.3kW of power!!! And this is supposed to be an improvement?
Good lucking recieving it even 20 miles away.
On the bright side, look at all the zero OTA audience local affiliates we're getting! (sarcasm)
Are stations just being cheap or what? Couple all these weak, out of range low power stations with Line of sight issues, terrain, junk CECB's and tuners, clueless people using crap antennas at long distances, I see a huge tidal wave of complaints coming very very, soon.
The majority of complaints from specifically Rabbit ear users.
-----------
FCC won't admit to people that DTV with rabbit ears is very very hit or miss either. You see all these commercials and PSA's basically explaining it like it's pre-school or something.
Buy the box, screw in your antenna, scan, boom! all your stations crystal clear!
They make no mention about antennas, reception issues, or any of that stuff at all. "put your antenna near the window". Near the window? I put my antenna near the window and I don't get anything at all! It works better away from the window!
Misleading to the public.

The same thing is happening in central New York. If they dont have a cable or a dish they wont have anything.

I kinda Copped out on the Poll
Let me explain though, I like the analog cuz it was so easy, coat hangers, rabbit ears, antennas in attic(guess that's still workin for a few), old beater antennas up on roof, and whatever ya could come up with. Now for digtal, hummmm.... when it comes in, wow, the picture is dramatically better! But gettin things dialed in, geessshhh, what a pain in the behind. We live in a fringe area east of Portland, OR. Only 28.5 miles from towers(per Antenna Web), but it's the foothills of the Cascade Mts. we're up about 1800ft elevation, which I thought would be good, since the towers elevation is like 1770ft. But man, we're beside a little creek in a little valley, surrounded by 80 to 100ft fir trees. I'm doin my best, bein patient and all. No good TV guys around, everybody pushin satellite, from what I hear that's even a problem up here. Tryin to hold out, and not spend too much on all this. Guess I'm gonna have to take CowboyupforChrist deep fringe suggestion. If that don't work, I might be able slime into a DirectTV showroom account. Don't want to, but what can ya say. Sorry this got so long, guess I kinda vented on ya'all. Good luck to all!!!

Are the government and the sattilite companies in kahoots. This is the same story across the country and people who can afford cable or sattilite will probably subsribe for service rather than put up with the horrible reception. And people who can't, well we are just left hanging. And thats my point, and its not right, railroading people into buying something they would not have otherwise. And don't even get me started about the infomercials they have playing all the time, just hook it up, plug it in and boom crystal clear.Yeah right. I'm into it over $150 and still my reception is spotty at best. So I really dont know what I'm going to when the big day comes but I guess I'm just going to have to deal with it.

Actually, the government should be able to pay you to watch TV, especially after this digitial conversion goes into effect…They will make more money off this than you would be able to count! That’s why it went into effect! The government sells the stations, broadcast rights, taxes on operation and renewal liscenses, plus a dozen other “taxes” on every new station….and they will have hundreds, perhaps thousands of new stations…that’s what it’s all about!
Just something else to mull over.

The commercials are very very VERY misleading. Sadly, the gullible citizens of this country are feeding into it like hook line and sinker.
What we need are real certified broadcast volunteers that KNOW what they are talking about and could offer some REAL help to those having problems.
Not for the coupon issue, but for RECEPTION issues.
We need to move on to the RECEPTION issues now. The coupon and box problems should have been done with already.

Enough with the baseless accusations. Present your evidence, or accept that you're wrong about that. The government does favor the satellite companies over cable companies, but they aren't "in kahoots". The government is administering the public trust responsibly, even though you don't like the results of their fair stewardship. It is important to remember that government exists to serve "the people" not "the person".
