Post Advanced DTV Reception Thread

This purpose of this thread is information interesting to some more than the average person needs to know to install a DTV system. Items that are more technical in nature.

Also please refrain from posting content directly in this thread if you have an article you would like to add. Instead do your post then post here with a brief synopsis of the gist of the article. Making this thread more of a table of contents then then content itself.

Thanks, Piggie.

====

I locked this thread not to discourage but I keep having to pull posts out of it that don't link to an article.

If you have an article you think should be reference here, just ask a mod to add it.

Default Twin Lead Wire vs Coax for DTV HD Reception

This post talks about the merits of twin lead and coax in a DTV OTA system. It started off a question from a member and evolved into an analysis of the difference in the two types of feed lines.

Default Why Stations come in from farther away at night?

I take some jumps in the absolute theory, but hit the highlights of why you can pick up stations farther away on an average night than during the day.

Here is an excellent off site link to the same topic that is very technical.

Default Combining UHF VHF Antennas with and without an Amp

This thread goes through the many ways to combine a UHF and VHF antenna, with or without an amp for the least loss.

I also expand into amplifying only one side of a VHF/UHF combo antenna also.
