Unhappy Lost local Fox channel

I have lost our local Fox 10 Phoenix channel. ( 10.1) and local weather channel (10.2). I am still receiving local channel 15 but NOT 10. I have rotated antena and scanned several times. No Luck. HELP!!!!
I live in an RV with a upgraded Rv antenna which had wonderful reception before converstion.

I am dissapointed in the very low sound quality since hooking up the converter. Could this be an issue with the converter its self? Also the converer box gets extrememly hot , is that normal?

What type of antenna are you using? Indoor/Outdoor? UHF/VHF?

What's your zip code so we can determine the approximate distance from DTV broadcast towers to your house, or you can go to TV Fool and plug in your exact address and post the results here.

When you place your flat palm on top of the converter box, gently warm (as in it would feel good on a cold hand) is OK; uncomfortably warm or hot is not OK. The box needs space on all sides for proper ventilation. Never leave anything on top of the box, don't put the box on a soft surface such as a blanket, and always leave at least 1 inch of space around the sides and back panel.

If ventilation is adequate and "extremely hot" really means "too hot to touch," unplug the box immediately. That's a potential fire hazard; the box should be returned to the seller, regardless of return policy/warranty.

It stands to reason that your antenna is not adequate for your situation.

A RV type antenna is not built for high gain UHF reception.

There are several things that determines reception.

One is gain of antenna

Height of antenna above average terrain.

Height of transmitter antenna above average terrain.

Power of transmitter

Location of transmitter

Location of obstacles between you and the transmitter.

Any buildings 4 or more stories high, trees, mountains etc.

The frequency of the stations transmitter, not its virtual channel number.

If your antenna was 1000 feet above average terrain and the transmitter was 1000 feet above average terrain then you should be able to receive their signal.

The higher in frequency you go, the more power it takes to transmit the same amount of distance.

KSAZ 10-1 is operating at reduced power for several weeks while they replace and upgrade equipment. If you're seeing 8-1 and 12-1 okay now, then when KSAZ gets upgraded, you should have success with them.

Sounds like you picked up one of the bad DTV converters that were made.

Some converters use a tuner-box linked to a cell phone chip which makes them run very warm. Sure the cell phone chip has everything - the CPU, RAM, and the software, saving lots of space. However using it to process data continuously makes the chip run very warm. The speed suffers, and so does the picture and audio quality. Try to get it swapped with a different box at the store, if there are any left. If there's no luck, try to check for a deal online.

What kind of antenna are you using? You're over 40 miles from the main broadcast towers, which will most likely require an outdoor antenna. Give us some details though.
