I grew up in New York City. I never lived in Manhattan but I went from Queens to Brooklyn to Da Bronx.
Everywhere I was there was muli-path galore without using a roof-top antenna. Anything else just did not work. UHF was the worst. I could always get 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13 somehow with rabbit ears. UHF was just snow but in those days (1962-1974), nobody really watched UHF in NYC. Nobody I knew anyway.
Stop Me! I take that back a little. The spanish channels, 41 and 47 did seem to work OK. But alas, yo no hablo espanol.
Do most buildings in the city still have antenna systems or have they all switched to cable? Or maybe some combination of the 2? The way I figure it, the landlord will come up with something that works real good for
OTA for everyone. Too bad the rents will go up for his or her efforts.
