Regarding WLS channel 7 in Chicago, I have an un-amplified Terk HD antenna and "used" to get channel 7 from my patio (I'm located 35 miles SW of Chicago) on my HD TV.
Today I took my TV outside and did a complete rescan (with the Turk in the exact same location) and cannot find channel 7 (ABC) or channel 2 (CBS).
Not sure why, but very frustrating as I thought, with the big "transition," that while no new channels would be added, at least I would be able to see the channels that i had before?!
Am I issing something or is this whoioe FCC switch a FUBAR operation?!

The FUBAR was that some of the stations switched from UHF to VHF, and underestimated the amount of broadcast power needed to send signals to their viewers. Have you done a TV Fool plot yet? How far is AC and CBS from your house?

channel 7 is broadcasting with very little power... they moved there frequency and when they did this most of chicago lost the channel ota... as for channel 2 you should be able to get this, they are now on frequency 12, can you manually add a channel and get the signal... remember it is 12.1

Thanks for the info! I found that after I re-scanned AND raised the rabbits it picked-up CBS and ABC, though I never had to do that before, so I guess live and learn!

This is why the Terk HDTVi is such a nice little indoor antenna compared to the Silver Sensor which was popular several years ago. The Terk has rabbit ears for VHF. Saved the day!

This all depends on the type of converter box you have. Give us the manufacture and model # and we'll let you know if you can manually add a channel.
