I bought the SCP010 for $10.00 at my local Phoenix Fry's Electronics store. Cheap!
For starters, the SCP010 is a passive antenna, so it's not equipped with an amplifier. Its design is fairly simple and typical, built with both a loop element for UHF channel reception and 34" dipoles for VHF reception. A single RG59 wire is permanently connected to the rear of the unit and is easy to connect to any TV, receiver, set top box, etc with its "direct connect" connection on the other end.
My TVFool results for testing conditions:
Digital reception performance was as expected of the SCP010. Great. All green channels indicated on my TVFool results show approximately 75% or higher on the signal indicator of my Mitsubishi LT-40133 40"
LCD. As you can see in my TVFool chart, testing conditions were line of sight and my location is less than 9 miles from broadcast towers. Ideal for an indoor antenna.
Build Quality rates pretty well. This antenna could easily survive a 5' drop off of a TV stand onto tile or wood flooring and not break. The 360 UHF loop can swivel 360 degrees for additional adjusting in tight places. The dipoles feel sturdy and stay into place once you've found a good vertical and horizontal mounting position. The SCP010 is advertised as having a "two tone color" combination though I would prefer if it were just one single color for aesthetics.
One additional note about the SCP010 is that the UHF element folds completely forward and the dipoles adjust to allow for easy storage when the antenna is not in use.
