Big changes for KDOC-TV - dropped one channel!

KDOC had a major change in its lineup, effective today.

    The old line up was:

    KDOC 56-1 KDOC HD
    KDOC 56-2 KDOC SD1
    KDOC 56-3 KDOC SD2

    The new lineup is:

    KDOC 56-1 KDOC SD
KDOC 56-2 ESNE (Spanish religious El Sembrador Nueva Evangelizacio)

    KDOC56-3 is deleted.

Looks like a cost-cutting measure. I see a lot of bandwidth reduction used for ESNE (heavy artifacts) Thankfully there's none apparent on KDOC.

Found out about it as I was hoping to record Hawaii Five-O for uploading into Youtube. I wasn't warned about the channel change - they should have put PSA notices that they were going to change the channel lineup. That should be put into the FCC code - whenever a station makes changes to its channel lineup, they should broadcast notices that the channels are changing on their station and that you will need to rescan on the day of the change.

So they downgraded to SD and dropped a channel? Beautiful.

Not like they had any HD content to begin with. It was 100% upconverted.

It looks like KDOC-HD may be back. They've added the letters HD to their logo and Star Trek (TOS) appears a little fatter as if they're filling out a 16:9 picture. If anyone with an HD signal and TV can confirm this, please.

KDOC for sale first, viewers second (IMHO).

I found out over at the AVS Forums

Los Angeles, CA - OTA - Page 248 - AVS Forum

KDOC has licensed a large portion of it's bits to a service called Sezmi and is transmitting two lower quality SD channels. Apparently it's only available in HD via cable.

Sezmi uses DTV spectrum in addition to a broadband connection to sell cheap cable TV for $20 a month.

If you this has been done before, you're right and the answer is USDTV.

Kinda sad and pathetic IMHO so YMMV.
