Unhappy Rual HDTV reception

Jay, I live in rual Texas about 80 miles or so from the tv stations. I have a new HDTV and an outside antenna with a Radio Shack mast booster with a box hooked up to my tv and powered by electricity. Since the switch to digital in February, we get either a still picture or no signal found and this fades in and out at all times of the day or night on all the channels. Can you suggest a fix for this problem. Would a tower to add length to put my antenna on be of any help? I am located in a low area and wonder if getting my antenna up higher would help. As of now, its about 12-15 ft. above my roof on a pole. Any suggestions?

Enter your address or ZIP Code here.
On the next page, move the red map pointer exactly over your house.
Below the map, put in the estimated height you plan to raise the antenna up to.
Click "Make Radar Plot"
On the results page, copy the bold "share this" link and post it back here.
Your address will not be shown on the results.

Hmm, I am starting to worry now. The last two antenna questions were specifically addressed to Jay or Don...

Maybe I do need to find a new life? lol...

Welcome Judy... You have the Pig of the bunch here.

Could you go to TV Fool

Be sure to do it twice if you can. Once with your current antenna at 15 ft then say try one up 50 ft.

Also if you are very rural, TVFool's address to coordinate converter built in doesn't always work that well, due to the post office database he uses.

So go here first for better results Google Maps Latitude, Longitude Popup and you may need to zero in as close as you can to your house with satellite view.

Then click your house or as close as you can get and copy and past the lat and long coordinates to TVFool, using it's coordinate mode (check the coordinate box).

In both plots post the bold link they give you here. Then we can go look at the results.

Then we can see if it's worth trying and with what type of set up.

Isn't that what the TVFool Interactive Map option is for, if the address database is wrong (like in rural areas)?

You can start by entering just a ZIP Code.
Zoom in and find your house, using the satellite view option. Drag the red map pointer exactly on top of your house.
Enter antenna height, below the map.
Click "Make Radar Plot"

I find it very slow on my connection. Then again, I am probably out of date working on other stuff lately.

Time for the new generation..........
