Default channel resception in tri-state area NYC?

Please advise before the digital transition I was able to get channels 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13 in the county of queens (NYC) now all I get now is 2, 4, 5, and 9

I have been told that channels 7, 11 and 13 in NY have been switched to vhf.

I brought a roof antenna but I still get the same channels.

Does anybody know why this was done? And what the FCC is doing about this since they begged everyone to embrace dtv.its not such a loss for me but for the mother in law who doesn't have cable or satellite it’s a great loss.

Welcome to the forums!

Can you give us the brand and model of your rooftop antenna? If you don't recall, can you post a picture so we can identify it? Also, can you please go to TV Fool and enter two important items: actual street address and antenna height above ground level. Post the link to the results back here. We won't see your actual address but we will see excellent projections on your tv reception opportunities and challenges.

Look forward to seeing your information!

Rick

Before implementing antenna-system changes, carefully follow the instructions in the post, Lost Channels? The Memory Erase Scan. It's quite possible that the pre-transition UHF channel assignments got "stuck," preventing the tuner from confirming the new VHF channel locations. The process takes about 15 minutes per tuner. That might be all you need to do.

If a "double re-scan" doesn't help, we'll certainly need to know what your antenna is designed to do and what a TVFool report for your location looks like, as Rick suggests.
